Second Skin Armor
Second skin armor is the ultimate in discrete, personal protection. Second skin is woven from a unique ablative spandlar weave which is so light and flexible that it may easily be worn under regular clothing. Second skin absorbs the impact from physical and energy attacks and dissipates the force over the entire area of the armor. This process disintegrates the suit, so second skin can only absorb a handful of impacts before its protection is lost.
Because of its concealable nature, the Empire has classified second skin as a munition and tightly regulates its manufacture and distribution. Members of the dreaded Imperial Special Intelligence Service are often issued second skin for use in field duty. Possession of second skin by civilians is a Class Two Infraction. Nevertheless second skin is quite popular within covert operations circles, and it can be found on the black market, although the price is normally several times its basic cost.
